SSC CGL Syllabus

Eligibility Conditions for SSC CGL Exam 2014 | Who Can Apply

Candidates who are wishing to apply for SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) Exam 2014, are advised to go through the requirements of educational qualification, age, physical standards etc and satisfy themselves that they are eligible . Take a look at the details about the required educational qualification, age and physical standards :-

Educational Qualification

The basic educational qualification required for most of the posts in SSC CGL exam is a Bachelor‟s Degree (Graduation Degree) or equivalent from a recognized University .
Name of the Post Education Qualification
Compiler Bachelor‟s Degree with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective subject from any recognized University.
Statistical Investigator Grade – II Graduation with statistics as one of the main subjects .OR
Bachelor‟s Degree with Mathematics( with Statistics as a papers studied in one year/two years/all three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects.
OR
Graduation with Economics ( with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects.
OR
Graduation with Commerce (with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects.
All other posts Graduation
Assistants(CSS) Graduation + Computer Proficiency
Note :-
Degree obtained from open Universities/Distance Education is allowed in this exam; The university must be recognized by Distance Education Council, IGNOU.
Candidates must acquire the prescribed qualification on or before 01.01.2014 , failing which their candidature will be cancelled.

The age limitations for SSC CGL exam 2014 is following :-

Physical Fitness

If you are applying for the post of Inspector ( Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer ) or Sub-Inspector in CBI then you must be physically fit otherwise your candidature will be rejected . The following physical standard are required for these posts :-

Female 152 cms.Height relaxable by 2.5 cms - 48 Kgs.Note :-Weight by 2 Kgs. for  Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese and Members of Scheduled Tribes

Physical Test

Male 1600 metres  in 15 minutes 8 Kms.  In 30  minutes
Female 1 Km. in 20 minutes 3 Kms. in 25 minutes

Sub-Inspector in CBI

Sex Height Chest Vision
Man 165 cms.
Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals : 5 cms
76 cms.  with  expansion
  • Eye-sight (with or without glasses)
  • Distant vision : 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye.
  • Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.
Woman 150 cms. - Same
